Better World Day is an annual, national event showcasing student learning that contributes to a better world. Students present learning projects and engage in acts of service that demonstrate the power of EL Education’s vision for public schools: a place where children become great scholars and active citizens with the capacity to make a positive impact.
This year OCEAA students have committed to reflect on who they are as people and learners – identifying their strengths and the challenges they face. They believe that they first have to understand who they are in order to help others and contribute to a better world. In partnership with their Crew leaders, OCEAA students worked on identifying who they are and created a “Who I Am” puzzle piece highlighting all aspects of who they are – their strengths and challenges. Then, students created positive affirmation tokens to uplift everyone in their school community. Our Better World Day Ambassadors will lead students in transforming our playground tree into a positive affirmation space where the positive affirmation tokens will be placed. The hope is for students to use this space for reflection and read positive affirmations when they are in need of some uplifting.

Join us for our Better World Day Celebration on Friday, May 5th at 6:00pm at the Main Building Playground!
Better World Day es un evento nacional anual que muestra cómo el aprendizaje de los estudiantes contribuye a un mundo mejor. Los estudiantes presentan proyectos de aprendizaje y participan en actos de servicio que demuestran el poder de la visión de EL Education para las escuelas públicas: un lugar en el que los niños se convierten en académicos y ciudadanos activos con la capacidad de tener un impacto positivo.
Este año, los estudiantes de OCEAA se han comprometido a reflexionar sobre quiénes son como personas y estudiantes, y han identificado tanto sus fortalezas como los desafíos que enfrentan. Creemos que es primordial que entiendan primero quiénes son para poder ayudar a los demás y contribuir a un mundo mejor. En asociación con los líderes de su Crew, los estudiantes de OCEAA trabajaron para identificar quiénes son y crearon una pieza de rompecabezas de ‘Quién soy’ que destaca todos los aspectos de quiénes son: sus fortalezas y desafíos. A continuación, los estudiantes crearon fichas con afirmaciones positivas. El objetivo es que los estudiantes usen este espacio para reflexionar y leer afirmaciones positivas cuando necesiten mejorar sus estados de ánimo.
